Disneyland (California)
The ORIGINAL Disney Park
Disneyland, amusement park in Anaheim, California, featuring characters, rides, and shows based on the creations of Walt Disney and the Disney Company. Though its central building, the Sleeping Beauty Castle, is modeled on Germany’s Neuschwanstein Castle, it is an unmistakable icon of American popular culture. Disneyland is the only Disney theme park designed and built under the supervision of Walt Disney.
Disneyland has a larger cumulative attendance than any other theme park in the world, with 757 million visits since it opened (as of 2021). If the 3,800,000 churros that are consumed each year at the Disneyland Resort were laid end-to-end, they would stretch 954 miles. That’s enough churros to line the Disneyland Resort monorail track 382 times.
Known as the “Happiest Place on Earth,” Disneyland opened on July 17th, 1955. More than just an amusement park, this “theme park,” with its five themed “lands,” was the first of its kind, and continues to fulfill Walt Disney’s dream of creating a place where parents and children can have fun together.
